Wet Underfloor Heating Systems – Complete Kits & Components
VPS supply wet underfloor heating systems to homeowners and installers across the UK. Whether you’re fitting a new screed system, retrofitting over an existing floor, or working with a heat pump, we have the components and expertise to get it right.
What is water underfloor heating?
Wet underfloor heating circulates warm water through pipes installed beneath the floor. This provides consistent and efficient warmth throughout the space above. Water underfloor heating is more energy efficient than traditional methods. This makes it a popular choice for both residential and commercial applications.
How does wet underfloor heating work?
Warm water circulates a network of pipes installed beneath the floor. The system draws water from a heat source and distributes it to the designated zones through a manifold. A thermostat controls each zone, allowing the user to adjust the temperature settings to their preference. As the warm water flows through the pipes, it emits heat, warming the room above evenly.
Water UFH can involve various factors, from system types to zoning. We understand it can be overwhelming. Get in contact if you’re seeking clarity or guidance as to which system type suits your space best.

Benefits of Wet Underfloor heating
Wet underfloor heating offers several advantages over standard radiator systems.
Energy Efficient
Wet UFH distributes heat across the whole area of the room. The expanded area enables this system to operate at lower temperatures than radiators. As a result, the heat source can run at reduced temperatures, enhancing energy efficiency.
This lower running temperature is perfect for modern green systems like air-source or ground-source heat pumps. You can pair UFH with other changes to make your home more energy-efficient.
Control
Users can adjust temperatures, set schedules, and control single rooms. This ensures optimal comfort and energy efficiency by directing heat where and when needed. Smart thermostats enable users to monitor and adjust their settings when not at home.
Comfort
Water UFH provides a comfortable heat solution. One of the immediate and noticeable benefits is the feeling of warm floors. Enhance overall comfort and create a cosy ambience throughout your living space.
Unobtrusive
Removing radiators from a room offers more design freedom. This allows you to arrange furniture without the constraints of radiator positioning. This creates a modern and functional living space.
Wet UFH compatibility with heat pumps and boilers
Wet underfloor heating works well with standard boilers and low-temperature heat sources like air source heat pumps.
If you are using a boiler, the flow temperature needs to be blended down to 50-35°C. This is managed by a blending valve, which allows the boiler to stay at 60–70°C if radiators are also in use. Turning your boiler down will increase energy efficiency.
Wet UFH is regarded as the ideal partner for air source and ground source heat pumps. Heat pumps operate efficiently at lower flow temperatures, typically 35–45°C, which aligns perfectly with UFH requirements. If you’re planning a heat pump installation, or already have one, wet UFH is one of the most effective upgrades you can make to lower running costs.

Screed Systems
Pipes are laid on insulation boards and covered with a liquid or sand/cement screed. This gives excellent heat retention and is ideal where floor build-up is not a concern.
Wet underfloor heating kits
Our single-zone wet underfloor heating kits ensure you have all the components required to create an efficient system.
Our experts calculate the materials included in our wet underfloor heating kits. They base them on your chosen system size and pipe spacing. This ensures that you receive the correct components tailored to your project.
A breakdown of the components included in each water underfloor heating kit type is on the kit page. If you can’t find a suitable kit for your project, we can build a custom quote for you.
