Why install Wet Underfloor Heating?
Quite simply – wet or water underfloor heating is an excellent way to heat your home effectively and efficiently. The heat is distributed evenly to each corner of your rooms – so no more unsightly radiators and best of all, it works at a lower temperature therefore potentially reducing your heating costs.
What type of boiler do I need for a Wet Underfloor Heating System?
Generally, waters systems will work with most boiler types – condensing, vented or wood-fired for example. They will also work well with heat-pumps plus these generally run at a lower temperature compared to standard boilers.
How does a Water Underfloor Heating System actually work?
With a wet or water based underfloor heating system, a series of pipes connect to your boiler (or air source or ground-source heat pump) and warm water is circulated across the floor to heat up the space.
Using a manifold, the pipes are connected to your heat source that simply allows all your pipes to work together. The manifold size required will depend on how big your intended system will be.
A thermostat (there can be more than one depending on the number of zones) is fitted to your system so you can control the floor temperature (usually set between 27°C and 31°C).
What does a Wet Underfloor Heating System cost?
Water or Wet underfloor heating is on the whole more energy efficient than a standard radiator – therefore, as a result, is less expensive to run. As heat is distributed in a more even fashion, the water temperature of the system can be much lower.
Of course, this will all depend on the size of your home, type of boiler and how energy efficient in general your home is.
