Hisa Heat pumps – Built to last

HISA Heat Pumps utilse the latest technology to harness renewable energy, offering a highly efficient heating and cooling system for residential spaces. By leveraging the natural heat sources around us, heat pumps provide sustainable solutions while significantly reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Heat pumps for underfloor heating

As Air-source heat pumps operate efficiently at lower flow temperatures, they are the perfect partner for wet underfloor heating. A heat pump can supply heat directly to the UFH system.

Buy the right heat pump for your Project

Hisa heat pumps are available in a variety of heat outputs, including 6kW, 8kW, 12kW, and 18kW units. This versatile range ensures there is a suitable option for homes of all sizes.

Each heat pump can be purchased individually or as part of a package:

  • Heat pump only
  • Heat pump + install kit
  • Heat pump + install kit + cylinder

Heat Pump FAQ’s

Air source heat pumps work by extracting heat from the outside air and transferring it to the inside of a building for heating purposes. Here’s a simplified explanation of how they work:

Heat Extraction:
The air-source heat pump absorbs heat from the outdoor air using an outdoor unit, often referred to as the evaporator. Even at low temperatures, there is still usable heat energy present in the air.

Heat Transfer:
The absorbed heat is transferred to a refrigerant — typically a fluid with a low boiling point, such as R410A or R32 — inside the evaporator coils. As the refrigerant evaporates, it turns into a gas.

Compression:
The gaseous refrigerant is compressed by a compressor, increasing its temperature and pressure. This process raises the energy level of the refrigerant.

Heat Release:
The hot, high-pressure refrigerant flows into the indoor unit, known as the condenser, where it releases heat into the indoor space. During this process, the refrigerant condenses back into a liquid.

Heat Distribution:
The condensed liquid refrigerant passes through an expansion valve or metering device, reducing its pressure and temperature. This prepares it to re-enter the evaporator.

Repeating the Cycle:
The refrigerant returns to the evaporator to absorb more heat from the outdoor air. This cycle continues, constantly extracting heat from outside and releasing it indoors.

Installing an air source heat pump offers several benefits that make it an attractive choice for heating and cooling residential or commercial spaces. These include improved energy efficency, lower energy costs and low maintinance.

Well-maintained air source heat pumps can have a long lifespan, often exceeding 15 years. This longevity ensures years of reliable heating and cooling performance, providing a solid return on investment.

Myth 1: Air-source heat pumps are only suitable for warm climates
Fact: Air-source heat pumps are designed to operate efficiently even in colder climates. Modern systems can extract heat from the air at surprisingly low temperatures, making them well suited to the UK climate.

Myth 2: Air-source heat pumps are noisy
Fact: The noise level of air-source heat pumps has significantly improved over the years. Manufacturers now focus heavily on reducing noise emissions, and many modern models operate very quietly. Proper installation and regular maintenance can further minimise any operational noise. In most cases, the sound produced by an air-source heat pump is comparable to that of common household appliances.

Myth 3: Air-source heat pumps are expensive to install
Fact: While the initial installation cost of an air-source heat pump may be higher than some traditional heating systems, the long-term energy savings can help offset the investment. In addition, government incentives or grants may be available to reduce the upfront cost.
