The 200w/m2 underfloor heating system offers a quicker warm up time than 150w/m2 and is suitable for under tile heating.

It is recommended for conservatories, primary heat source applications, and to heat rooms with a higher heat loss.

Also, it is used when a faster heat up is preferred – up to 25% faster warm up than a 150 w/m2.

NOTE: 6mm or 10mm thick insulation boards installed directly under the heating will always increase performance, heat up time and save running costs.

Consists of a twin conductor heating element ready fixed with uniform spacing onto a tough pressure sensitive self-adhesive fibreglass mesh, providing evenly distributed heat and excellent adhesive properties to facilitate fixing to the sub-floor – supply only needed at one end via a 3 metre long armoured cold lead.

Thermopads under tile heating mats are available in outputs of 150 and 200 w/m2, and a large range of sizes allows you to select the ideal underfloor heating system, whatever your room dimensions or the shape of your room. A wide selection in sizes simplifies design and installation.

The mats are 500mm wide and installations are completed in only a short time due to the ease of rolling out the matting side by side, and facility to remove heating cable from the mat, to fit any shape of room. The mat can be cut and turned with ease to run in strips side by side. These simple procedures are explained in the installation instructions.

Heating elements are thin to provide a low profile in the floor.

Please Note: be sure to choose an Electric UFH Kit that will cover 90% of the floor. It is always better to buy slightly less than required than too much rather because a cable kit cannot be cut to fit or shortened in any way.

What floor finish is suitable with a Thermopads system ?

Most floor finishes can be used, providing the floor has been prepared correctly and the manufacturer of the floor finish confirms its suitability for underfloor heating.

When renovating a floor and the floor finish is tiled, stone, laminate or engineered wood, it is essential to install the correct materials for the best results.

The Thermopads foil heating mat system is ideal for laminate and engineered wood floors without the need for a screed.

The Thermopads under tile heating mat system is ideal for tile and stone floors.

Do we require floor insulation ?

Always consider floor insulation as a thermal barrier, prior to installing underfloor heating and tiles on a concrete floor.

6mm or 10mm thick insulation board installed directly under the heating will provide greater response to temperature change, increased performance, faster heat up and lower running costs.

No matter how much insulation is installed below the top screed of a concrete floor, insulation board installed on top of the screed and directly under the heating will provide a thermal barrier, and improve heating efficiency. Insulating floors in this way produces a real payback on your running costs.

Please note, floor insulation is not always possible when renovating existing floors, due to floor height restrictions.

Cement finished tile backer boards are suitable for both concrete and wooden floors. On wooden floors a minimum of 10mm thick cement finished tile backer board is recommended. 10mm thick tile backer board is also used to strengthen a wooden floor, being waterproof and having greater stability than plywood.

Concrete floors are already solid, therefore the most cost effective solution for a low profile thermal barrier is to install a minimum 6mm thick layer of XPS (Styrofoam) board, prior to installing the underfloor heating.

Concrete floors without a thermal barrier will absorb around 30% of the heat energy downwards into the floor until stabilisation of the installed heat energy takes place. This is not a problem, but the time taken to heat up and stabilise will be longer than a floor with insulation board placed directly under the heating

How to start ?

Plan the installation. Sketch a general view of the room including dimensions, then mark the area to be covered by the heating.

Avoid heating under units and sanitary ware or any other item with a permanent footprint. It is important you do not select a mat that is too large for your room. The heating element cannot be cut therefore always select a mat that is at least 10% less than the floor area you want to heat.

How do I select the correct heating ?

To simplify design and installation, the Thermopads mat range includes half sizes up to and including 4.5m2 i.e. you can choose 1m2, 1.5m2, 2m2, 2.5m2, 3m2, 3.5m2, 4m2 and 4.5m2. This optimises the selection process when designing your bathroom, en-suite, wet room and kitchen underfloor heating.

The largest single mat size is 12m2, but in larger areas you can combine more than one mat to cover the floor area to be heated.

A thermostat is normally rated at 16A (amps) and this is suitable to switch up to 3600 watts direct. This means 24m2 is the maximum heated floor coverage with a 150w/m2 system that can be controlled direct through a single thermostat, and 18m2 is the maximum heated floor coverage with a 200w/m2 system that can be controlled direct through a single thermostat.

It is still possible to heat larger areas than 24m2 or 18m2 with a single thermostat, but in order to switch the amperage a contactor is required as well as the thermostat. Alternatively, in larger areas the heating can be split into more than one heating zone, each zone with its own thermostat.

Is the length of the cold power lead important ?

The Thermopads cold power connection lead is 3 metres long as standard, and 100% steel armoured for electrical and mechanical safety, all essential requirements for a safer and easier installation.

The length of the cold power lead is important as it helps the installer.

This adds extra design and installation flexibility when laying the mat out on the floor also, enough connection lead to reach the electrical supply position / thermostat.

When two mats or more are installed and wired together, it is even more important to have 3 metres of connection lead to make the job easier for the installer.

Do I need an electrician ?

All electrical connections must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with the 17th Edition IEE regulations BS7671:2008 and Part P of the Building Regulations.

How wide are the mats ?

The mats are 500mm wide. Each mat is supplied on a roll. For example, a 10m2 mat would be supplied on a roll 20 metres long. The mat is rolled out across the room, at the end of the room you cut the mat (not the heating element !), and flip it over and roll back alongside the mat in the opposite direction.

Standard Delivery Policy

All shipping options can be selected during the checkout process.

Our standard delivery charge is £10.00. Orders will be dispatched on Monday – Friday. Customers using our standard shipping service will normally receive their items in 1 to 3 working days from the time they place their orders.

We offer a next day delivery service. The cost of this is £15.00. To use this service we would expect to receive the order before 12.00 noon. We do endeavour to dispatch orders received later than this where possible.

We offer a pre 10.00am next day delivery. The cost of this is £20.00. To use this service we would expect to receive the order before 12.00 noon. We do endeavour to dispatch orders received later than this where possible.

We offer a Saturday delivery service. The cost of this is £30.00. To use this service we would expect to receive the order before 12.00 noon. We do endeavour to dispatch orders received later than this where possible.

We carry a large stock and can normally fulfil all orders within the timescales detailed. On the odd occasion we can have some stock shortages. If we are unable to meet our commitments we will contact the affected customer and discuss any problems and possible solutions. This will include making a full refund.
