1. Prepare the Subfloor
Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, level and structurally sound before installation begins.
2. Lay the Overlay Boards
Dry-lay the overlay boards to confirm the layout. Boards can be cut to size using a sharp utility knife by scoring both sides and snapping cleanly along the cut line.
3. Fix the Boards
Secure the overlay boards to the subfloor using a suitable solvent-free adhesive, flexible tile adhesive or mechanical fixings where required.
4. Install the Underfloor Heating Pipe
Lay the 16mm PERT-AL-PERT pipe into the routed channels, pressing firmly into place to ensure the pipe is fully retained within the board grooves.
Always work from the manifold position and follow the pipe layout provided. For optimum performance, individual pipe circuit lengths should not exceed 105 metres.
5. Install the Manifold
Mount the manifold and pump set securely to a wall in a central location within the heating zone. A centrally positioned manifold helps minimise pipe runs and balances heat distribution across the system.
6. Connect the Pipework
Connect each pipe circuit to the manifold using the supplied 16mm Eurocone connectors, ensuring all connections are tightened correctly.
7. Fill and Pressure Test
Fill the system with water and carry out a pressure test in accordance with the installation manual and current regulations before installing the final floor finish.
8. Install the Floor Finish
Tiles
- Prime the overlay board surface before tiling.
- Use a high-quality flexible tile adhesive suitable for underfloor heating systems.
Laminate & Engineered Wood
- Can typically be installed directly onto the overlay boards, subject to the flooring manufacturer’s recommendations.
Carpet, Vinyl & LVT
- Soft floor coverings require an intermediate layer, such as a self-levelling compound or Duo Overlay Board, before the final floor finish is installed.
Always check the floor finish manufacturer’s guidance regarding suitability for use with underfloor heating systems.
